The Shoup Story
From humble beginnings rooted in service to 50-plus years providing top-notch cleaning services in Tuscarawas County.
Who We Work With
We’re proud to work with a diverse group of clients, providing the same high level of professional cleaning services to each and every one. Here are some of the outstanding organizations with which we have the privilege of partnering.
Shoup’s Core Values
These core values are the principles we apply to every aspect of our business. They’re the foundation of who we are and what we do, and you can count on us to adhere to them in every facet of our work.
Respect & Dignity
Shoup’s Cleaning is committed to respecting our customers, the dignity of our work and our teammates, and the heritage and principles of our company.
We’re part of something bigger than our jobs and company. Our community involvement as an advocate for worthy causes benefits our neighbors and fellow citizens beyond our customers.
Pride & Craftsmanship
We do our jobs the Shoup way – being diligent in doing great work, persistently seeking answers, solving problems and growing skills.
Simply put, we work together as one to get the job done. Additionally, we strive to learn from and trust each other, and to not let each other down.
Our story originates in an act of service to the community. In the late 1960s, founder Doyle Shoup adhered to the pacifist principles of his Mennonite faith and served his community as a cleaner at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio. While serving his country through cleaning, Doyle perfected the craft of “cleanliness that meets the highest standards.” He believed those standards extended beyond the hospital walls, to the businesses and homes in his community.
In 1970, he opened Shoup’s Cleaning Company to provide those same high-quality cleaning services throughout Tuscarawas County. In the ensuing decades, he built his business on quality as he and his employees cleaned a wide range of spaces – both commercial and residential – for their loyal customers.
Over the past 52 years, Doyle worked to build a company that provided elite cleaning services while also having a positive impact on the community. Today, his son Doug and daughter-in-law Kristen own Shoup’s Cleaning. They are strengthened by their faith and their commitment to offering quality services, providing good opportunities for employees and being a strong, positive force in the community – continuing the principles Doyle established more than five decades ago.
Today, we’re a growing company with a team of talented employees who possess a combined 168-plus years of experience in the industry. We are also a proud Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau, with an A+ rating.
We proudly support the Noah’s Hope Tuscarawas County Child Advocacy Center, a local organization that helps survivors of child abuse, and their families. Children who have suffered abuse are able to share their experience in a one-on-one conversation in a safe, supportive environment facilitated by a trained staff member. Children’s services, law enforcement, mental health, victim advocacy, medical and prosecution representatives are able to observe the interview from an adjoining room and the child avoids having to go through the difficult experience of telling their account multiple times.
Through this multidisciplinary team approach, Noah’s Hope works to ensure the needs of victims and their families are met with consistent, compassionate and trauma-informed care. Our company not only supports this wonderful organization financially, but we also proudly wear a Noah’s Hope patch on our uniforms as a constant reminder of the cause.
